Abstract
Thoughts on A Family of Rumelian: Nehârî, Sa'yî, Mü’min, Sûzî
The latest works on Ottoman poet / writer biographies
reveal that there are more or less biographical data about
them at hand. However, the information we have about
these names is only as far as we can obtain from the sources
laid out independently about them. The fact that there are
no monographic studies on the families of the poets / authors,
however, offers only a single evaluation of them.
Whereas family-based studies can be obtained, however, an
original knowledge put forward in their biographical information
may be a source for others. The fact that family
monograph studies about the poems which were found in
production in Ottoman literature has not been done is a
deficiency in this subject. When we consider poets / writers
as part of a family we can not have much information about
in the period sources, and when we bring together some of
the information that can sometimes be missed, which is set
aside independently, can sometimes provide us with more
complementary information about the life of that person.
One of the characteristic examples of this is a family of
Prizren from 16th century. In this article, biographical
evaluations of poets lived in the same geographical region
and the same century will be tried to be shown together in
the context of family relations, and to show that they can
provide mutually beneficial information when evaluated
together.
