Abstract
Four Newroziyye Examples in A Poem Majmua Collected in 16th Century: Newroziyye of Medhî, Sucûdî, Cafer Celebi And Lutfî
Starting of spring season, revival of nature, getting
plentifulness in nature and life is be very well received by
ancient societies and ongoing new generations. Newroz
that simply means the start of a new life, has been
accepted as festival and been being celebrated. Especially
in Turkish societies, newroz, no matter which geography,
is accepted as not only a festival but also a holy day.
Literary work about newroz ha been given since the oral
litarature period. It is possible that newroz can be mentioned
in legend and epic, tale and story, poem, novel,
theatre in short, nearly all literary genres. Poems about
newroz has been written a lot in Classical Turkish
Literature/Diwan Literature. The genre of these poems is
generally called as “newroziyye”. There are newroziyyes
that were written by four poets in the poem majmua
which is collected in 16th century. In this study, consciousness
and expression of four poets called Medhî,
Sucûdî, Cafer Celebi and Lutfî is tried to revealed by
analiyzing from various aspects and comparing poems.
