Abstract
Intertextuality of The Frame Tale Tradition With The Consideration of The Sindbadname: Parrot Story Example
Sindbâd stories originating in the Oriental culture
and spanning to different geographical regions in the
world through various means are one of the frame tale
collections. In the Orient, they are known as
Sindbâdnâme and also as Seven Sages of Rome in the
West. In these stories which are formed via the frame tale
technique named as text in text, there are a lot of independent
inner stories in a frame. As a result of flexible
structure of frame tale, common inner stories in different
story collections have been seen. This intertextuality
among the tale collections is also an indicator of cultural
connection of intercommunity at the same time. In this
article, after giving information about origination of
Sindbâd stories, a common inner story the “Story of
Parrot” taken part in The Sindbâd Stories, The Arabian
Nights, The Story of Parrot and The Fourty Sages has
