Abstract
A Mecmua That Mustafa Naima Collected It: ‘Ulâletü’l-mecâlis Mecmû‘atü’n-nefâ’is
The mecmuas take a place in the important written sources
which were inherited from Ottoman cultural world
ti today. One sort of the mecmuas are the mecmuas which
are collected by the well-known people. Such mecmuas can
represent the direct information about their collectors in
their records. Moreover, they can give idea indirectly about
the person’s literal pleasure, viewpoint, cultural and educational
level, the artists who are affected from him/her.
The mecmua in the name of ‘Ulâletü’l-mecâlis
Mecmû‘atü’n-nefâ’is which was registered in the collection
of Abdülhamid The Sultan with the number of 409 in
The Library of Michigan University was collected by Mustafa
Naima who was the first Ottoman official historian.
Naima started to collect the mecmua in 1120 (1708/9) and
he died without completing it. There are the selected works
and poems, which consists of 525 pages. The spike of content
is written in verse. There are many poems of Kafzade
Faizi, Nabi, Sabit, Rami and Mehmet The Pasha in Turkish
literature; Sa’ib-i Tebrizi in Persian literature. It is
understood from Ulâletü’l-mecâlis Mecmû‘atü’n-nefâ’is
that Naima held dear of poetry, had extremely knowledge
on Persian and Arabic literature, was interested in the biographical
works, liked the amorous and magisterial
poems. Moreover, the sample of Naima’s handwriting was
determined thanks to Ulâletü’l-mecâlis. In this article, the mecmua in the name of Ulâletü’l-mecâlis Mecmû‘atü’nnefâ’is
that Naima collected it will be introduced and it will
be tried to be reached to the new information about Naima
from the point of this mecmua.
