Abstract

A Reading Problem in Historical Text a/e Edit
One of the important points of attention in reading historical texts is reading comprehension. While reading the texts in question, our experience and knowledge are not always sufficient. We can easily navigate between words and phrases that we know. However, it is possible to encounter structures that we do not know or understand at every step of reading historical texts. For this reason, we can pass the words that are not understood by putting question marks. In the times after the first reading, we may notice that we did not understand the parts of the text that we could not read thanks to the new readings we made. To read and understand the texts means to understand both words and culture correctly. It is also important to read and understand historical texts in terms of enlightening the etymology of the words. This article will focus on the a / e postposition, which has been misread in historical texts and is not fully understood in terms of structure and meaning. Based on the sentences in which the postposition is mentioned, correction proposals will be presented, which will focus on examples. In the article, examples from the historical texts of Dede Korkut, Risaletun-Nushiyye, Manzum Siyer-i Nebi, El-Ferec Ba‘de’ş-Şidde and Süheyl ü Nevbahâr etc. will be given. In the aforementioned works, examples of a / e postposition that are read problematically and which are not fully understood in terms of structure and meaning will be emphasized. Then, the writing of the postpositions in the texts will be emphasized and evaluations will be made. In addition, in the Tarama Dictionary, the examples of the postpositions that are made adjacent to the verbs will be discussed.
