Abstract
Âyînezâde Muhammed Şemseddîn-i Sirozî’s Work Named “Şerh-i Manzûme-i Rüsûhî"
The information in the biographical sources about
Muhammad Shamseddin-i Sirozî who is one of the 17th
century authors, is very limited. The author, who is one of
the Ottoman savants and a member of the Halveti sect has
five prose work written in the form of commentaries and
apostil. One of these works is Şerh-i Manzûme-i Rüsûhî.
In this work Âyînezâde commented the poem of Süleymân
Rüsûhî which consists of 13 couplets and has the word
“nedir” as rhyme. This commentary written for poem
which has some mystical questions is very detailed. Five
copies of the work have been identified in different libraries.
The author referred to various topics related to mysticism,
wisdom, fiqh, hadith, tafsir and based his work on a wide
scientific basis. Various topics are discussed in the work
like “external, internal, uniqueness, superabundance,
lover, beloved, heart, monotheism, belief, syntheism, body,
spirit, soul, fate and will, superiority of man to other beings
and assuming the trust’s responsibility.” The commentary
enriched by the quotations of verses and hadiths can be
regarded as a work written in the middle prose type. The
work has a remarkable position within the tradition of
commentary.
