Remarks on Arrangement in Divan Publications: Example of Leyla Hanım's Divan
The Divan of Leyla Hanım, one of the 19th century female poets, was published by the late Mehmet Arslan based on 4 manuscripts and 4 printed copies. Since the arrangement of the manuscripts was not noticed during the publication, the poems were grouped according to their verse forms for the convenience of the researchers and for the sake of being organized, even if partially. Accordingly, the poems are listed in groups of qasida, murabba, muhammes, tahmîs, müseddes, tesdîs, tesbî, müsemmen, tesmîn, terkîb-bend, tercî-bend, date, ghazal, mustazad, song, lugaz, rubâîs and müfred verse forms.
However, according to a rubâî at the beginning of the manuscripts of Leyla Hanım's Divan, it is understood that the poet arranged her Divan. Since this arrangement was not noticed by the publisher, the arrangement of the Divan in the publication was completely changed by the publisher.
In this article, first of all, arrangement features of Leyla Hanım's Divan according to her manuscripts were revealed, then it was determined how the arrangement created by the poet in the publication was changed by comparing it to the arrangement of the manuscripts. Thus, it has been tried to reveal what kind of changes, troubles and deviations caused by not following the order of the divan in divan publications and what kind of deficiencies in understanding and recognizing the poet caused by the change of the divan arrangement which reflects the poet's world of belief and culture.
